On Monday, Iranian authorities confirmed that Israeli strikes killed Alireza Tangsiri, the Navy commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Tangsiri died as a result of the serious injuries he suffered during an attack on Friday, while he was “organizing and strengthening the forces and strengthening the defensive shield of the islands and coasts.” Iranian military authorities described the officer as a “martyr.”

“We offer our condolences to the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Ayatollah Khamenei, and the entire noble nation of Iran and the zealous warriors of the IRGC and naval army forces on the martyrdom of this brave and zealous soldier of the homeland,” the IRGC stated.

“We pledge with the entire Iranian nation, who are creating the greatest epics in history these days and nights, that we will not rest until the enemy is completely destroyed and the honorable Quds is liberated,” it added.

During his service, Tangsiri participated in the destruction of key enemy facilities and infrastructure, the downing of an American fighter jet, and the consolidation of Iranian defensive structure in strategic areas.
